Speaking at TIAST Group’s recent Agricultural Industrialization Conference held to celebrate women, as part of the Company’s efforts to recognize International Women’s Day, Honorable Akua Afriyie, a former member of Parliament for Ablekuma North Constituency, acknowledged the stupendous efforts of women in Ghana’s agriculture sector. The Conference, themed, “empowering women through financial and technological support for agricultural industrialization” was the maiden event organized by TIAST Group to honor women’s contribution in the cassava processing industry.
Other female professionals and leaders who added their voices to the conversation on women empowerment during the conference include; Nana Efua Okruw I, Amankroahemaa of Enyan Denkyira Traditional Area; Miss Paulina Addy, the Director of Women in Agriculture Development Directorate (WIAD) of the Ministry of Food and Agriculture; Mrs. Gifty Dansoa Appiah, National Director of Compassion International, Ghana; Mrs. Tina Liu, CEO of Honghai House Ghana Limited and Mr. Abdul-Jahleel Hussein, Head of Commercial Banking at Stanbic Bank, Ghana.
During her speech, Mrs. Gifty Dansoa Appiah admonished women to “make it a personal commitment to turn the popular narrative concerning women”. She passionately stated that women in the Ghanaian agricultural space need support and also added that “if you empower women, the benefits that go to the children and the rest of the family are enormous.” Additionally, Nana Efua Okruw I of Enyan Denkyira also congratulated TIAST Group for taking up the initiative to support women in the cassava value chain.
The Conference had more than sixty-five well accomplished women in agriculture, entrepreneurship and other relevant sectors in attendance. TIAST Group is an all-round service provider in the agricultural value chain, from technology, financial leasing, technical and off-take services.
