TIAST Group forms cooperation with Hengtuo to set up tractor manufacturing factory in Ghana

A strategic alliance has been established between TIAST West Africa and Hengyang Hentuo Agricultural Machinery Manufacturing Company Limited, a manufacturer of agricultural tractors with headquarters in China, in order to establish a tractor manufacturing factory, known as T-Tractor in Ghana with the purpose of manufacturing Made in Ghana agricultural tractors. 

This move is an agricultural industrialization drive to spur growth in the agricultural sector through the introduction of improved and advanced machinery for agricultural production.

After careful consideration of this partnership, the two parties have considered this partnership as an excellent initiative looking at the enormous benefits that comes into the country for producing Made in Ghana tractors, which would subsequently lead to the economic development of the country.

The manufacturing company is set to commence production next year, 2023 and is expected to produce 600 agricultural tractors within the year.

In 2024, the factory envisions the production of 6,000 Made in Ghana tractors which would be traded across other West African countries. This will mean that Ghana will be one of the largest exporters of agricultural tractors in Africa with higher returns to build the local economy and dominate the international market in terms of agricultural machinery production.

Detailing the socio-economic advantages of this partnership, the two parties pointed out that the initiative would lead to the creation of employment opportunities, boost agricultural production, serve as a platform to train young professionals and strengthen the agricultural value chain.

According to TIAST Group and Hengtuo young Ghanaian professionals in the engineering field would be taken through series of training on tractor manufacturing in China, and this is expected to provide hands-on practical training for young professionals with the ultimate aim of providing jobs for the teeming youth.

This is however, part of the localization agenda TIAST Group is set to achieve in the West Africa sub region in some few years to come. The footprint is however beginning in Ghana, the headquarters of TIAST West Africa Company Limited.

TIAST West Africa Company Limited revealed that the establishment of the T-Tractor company in Ghana would complement the country’s effort in industrializing the agricultural sector, as the factory would mainly deal in agricultural tractor machinery of all specifications.

The factory would produce various tractor machinery ranging from crawlers, four-wheel drive tractors, hydraulic tractors, etc.
